And I always thought I was not hirable. So you are wondering how I pulled this off. I'm not sure how but I am now a sworn census employee. This job I am on will last for about 4 weeks. I am an ETL (Enumerator for Transitory Locations). My team of 9 will go to RV parks and motels in the north east part of Nevada (we will cover 4 or 5 counties) and find people who are long time residents there and see if this is where they live most of the time and if so, we get to fill in their questionnarie. We cover from Wendover to Winnemucca and Jackpot to Eureka and Austin. We will probably do Ely also. I'm sure it will prove to be interesting.
The job will be completed in 4 weeks and we were scheduled for 4 days of training. The training went something like this. The first day we learned how to fill in important paper work like time sheets. (Very important). And direct deposits for payroll and other essential government mumbo jumbo. By the end of the 2nd day, we had completed one whole census questionnaire. Yes, that is the one that we tell the people that it will only take 10 min to complete and we completed it in 1 day. Truly amazing!! And to prove to you how quickly we are learning, on the 3rd day we completed the census questionnaire in just one morning. I know you all are totally impressed. That afternoon we took a test. I passed it. It was an open book test and I corrected my test. Of course I got 100% on it (or something like that). We were such quick learners that the 4th day (tomorrow) we get paid to study on our own at home for 4 hours. Then Monday morning we will be ready to hit the streets. Watch out Elko.
The main census work will begin in 3-4 weeks. If I do a good job on this project I might be selected to work the main census.
I have seen some old censuses and I am practicing making my handwriting totally impossible to read for future generations. (I'm sure that is a rule for enumerators).
I have to include this notice. Please complete your census questionnaries and return them so I don't have to show up at your house and get the information from you.
I will keep you posted on my adventures.

Congratulations on the job, it's harder to get hired than you let on!! You would be proud of me, (Derrik was amazed). The day after the census forms arrived in the mail, I filled it all out, by myself, and then left it out for Derrik to double check and mail. He mailed it in the next day, apparently I got all the answers right.
I filled mine out so don't stalk me :)
