Adult Entertainment

So if you are going to a family reunion and adult entertainment is mentioned, what do you think of?

How about a friendly game of Family Feud to learn more about Grandpa.
Apparently some of us had other things in mind. I was trying to give my brother some money and this is what I encountered.

And that was just for $1.00. Obviously I cannot show the pictures of what happened when Julie saw the $20 that I had.

Many thanks

I want to thank everyone that helped out with the family get-together and open house. I had a blast with my disfunctional family. It was so nice to see everybody pitch in and help out and as far as I know there were no fist fights or slug fests between my siblings. (We would have never lasted that long together 40 or 50 years ago.) Good job! And I only had 1 child there so my kids behaved themselves pretty good too. However, I'm not sure what happened at Lance's house during that time period.

So my report on the day goes something like this; good food, good folks, good fun, good pictures. No incidents to report. The closest thing to an incident would have been when we all attacked Earl for being 45 min late for the family pictures. I think he wins the Dork of the Day Award. Congrats Earl you represented the Petersen Family well.

And no more open houses for a few years! As a "heads up", Richard's family is in charge of the summer get-together next year. Are his kids good to do that?

I have missed the winter get-together for the last couple of years. Who did it last year? Well what I really want to know is who is in charge of it this year?

Thanks again to all. And I want you to know that I will remember last Sat. for a long time. It was a special day for me.

And stay tuned for my pictures.

blinded by the glare

Yesterday was supposed to be a "stay home all day" day. I have not seriously worn shorts for about 28 yrs. And I have not worn shorts at all in the past 2 years. Well I found my box of shorts recently and decided to wear a pair yesteday since I was going to be safe at home. But then late in the day, I absolutely had to have some seasoning for my pasta salad. What a dilemna. Do I cover my legs or do I blind the world? I decided to be daring. I was quick. The spices are not too far from the door, but you should have seen everybody frantically searching for their sun glasses. I will try to avoid that again for some time.

Where did I leave my brain?

I'm really starting to wonder if I left what little brain I had in our old house. I just don't seem to think very well. At first I blamed it on moving and being preoccupied but there is no excuse for my latest. Get ready to laugh.

So we have talked for a month that Mark's birthday is coming up. He will be 1. That's nice. I won't see him on his b-day so I don't have to do a cake or anything. Then I was talking to Mike's Mom Sat and she mentioned that she had sent Mark a b-day card. That made me think. I said, "Oh, I guess I need to send Mark a b-day card too". About an hour later it hit me. I really should send Mark a b-day present. That thought had never crossed my mind before then. So I frantically searched the aisles of Wal-Mart for the perfect presents for Mark. (I guess it is part of the 2nd child syndrome. And yes, I owe Mark a quilt. And then there is #3. Maybe I will neglect that one right from the beginning so he/she knows where we stand right from the beginning.)

This leads to the next story. There were items on 2 aisles that I was interested in. I found 4 things that I was interested in, but I needed to narrow it down to 1 item. I pondered my decision as I wandered through the other toy aisles. I made my decision for the perfect toy for Mark.

Then I decided to get him a bath toy to go with his other toy. I had seen the bath toys earlier and remember where they were on the aisle and I thought I knew which aisle they were on, but I couldn't find them. I looked on other aisles and still couldn't find the bath toys. I looked and looked but there were NO bath toys. I soon realized what had happened..........some employees had gone in and removed ALL the bath toys from the shelf. I said that I was going to look one more time and that was it. I was sure Mark was not getting a bath toy. Then all of a sudden the bath toys were back on the shelf. Yep, the employees had hurried and put them back when they realized that I was done with their game. (Of course I didn't see the employees move the bath toys.) And here is the real corker........ next to the bath toys was the perfect toy for Mark. So I put my other choice away and got him a bath toy and this other toy. (I can't tell you what it was yet because Mark might read this and I don't want to spoil the surprise for him.)

I will work at getting house pictures posted soon. If my brain starts working again.

Can you hand me that stool, please

I had an interesting thing happen to me this afternoon. Well it started last night. I was putting away my TPN order. I had a bag that had a small vial of iron and 100 cc of fluid. I set it on the washer to get it out of the way for right then. Then a little later I needed to use the washer. I quickly picked up the bag to set on the dryer and I heard the vial of iron hit the floor behind the dryer. GREAT!! I climbed up on the washer and could not see the vial anywhere. I thought of telling my supply company that the vial was not in the bag (at that point it was true).

So this afternoon I decided that I was going to find that vial. I pulled the washer out about a foot (I didn't want to move the dryer out, which would have been much lighter, because the exhaust hose thingie for the lint would come off.) So I climbed up on my stool and got on the dryer. I carefully thought things through before going back there. I was home alone. 1st, I made sure that I had my cell phone and 2nd, I figured out that I would need the stool behind the washer to be able to get out of there. I carefully set the stool back there on the floor and then climbed back there. I could not see that vial anywhere. That stool was taking up valuable space so I set it on the washer so I could get down on the floor and get a good look. Still nothing. So I tilted the washer forward so I could look under it. As I did that, I heard something hit the floor. Was that my stool? OOOPS. Still no vial. I was beginning to wonder if there really had been one in the bag. The story of there wasn't one in it was becoming more believable to me.

Now it would be nice to get out from behind the washer. If I had 1/2 the arm strength that I used to have, I could have pulled myself onto the dryer with little trouble at all, but that wasn't going to happen today. Mike would be home in about 5 hrs. I could stand there for that long (unless I had to go to the bathroom). I don't think so. ..... Let's see, I have my cell phone. I had gone visiting teaching just a few hrs before this. My partner lives not too far away. My back door is unlocked, she could come hand me my stool. Oh yah, I don't know her phone number. So whose number do I have? Oh yah, all kinds of relatives who all live at least 200 miles away. Maybe I could call Rachel so she could laugh at my perdicament. I did think of a couple of friends in town whose numbers I knew but by then I was becoming determined to get out of this on my own. I was only a few inches away from being able to get out. I started looking at what I could reach to stand on. I saw some cans of dog food. (Dang dogs were usefull for once). I stood on one can but couldn't quite reach. I stacked 2 cans on top of each other and I made it. Yippee. All by myself.

Now I was even more determined to find that stupid vial. I tilted the dryer up and there it was under it in the very back corner. Without thinking, I pulled the dryer out just a bit so I could reach. Dang it! I pulled the lint vent thingie off. I wasn't happy about that. I climbed back behind the washer again, this time leaving the stool on the floor. I got the vial of iron and even hooked up the lint vent. I remembered to pick up the cans of dog food before I left. I climbed out and was able to reach down and pull the stool out.

I don't know how expensive a vial of iron is but it couldn't have been worth all that trouble. Next time my iron comes you can bet that I will be extremely careful with where I put it.

Just another day in my "why do these things always happen to me" life.

Red LIght, Red Light

We used to play a game called red light, green light and yes that was back in the day when I played with baby dinosaurs. I think of that game often as I am driving to church. I have 5 signal lights to go through. 6 days of the week, I can expect to hit at least half of them green. So why is it that on Sundays with less traffic, the lights are all almost always red? Of course it is compounded when I am already running late for church. On those days I would just guarantee 5 red lights. Today I was not running late but why did the light have to turn red when there was absolutely nobody going the cross direction and the light was green until it saw me coming? Our lights are supposed to be rigged according to the traffic. I guess my car has a red light detector on it.

Jami frog story

I have an Isaac story that I have to share. I'll try not to drag it out too much.

So when Isaac is visiting, he is usually keyed up and tired and has a hard time settling down to go to sleep at night. When grandma tells his bedtime story I usually lay down by him and talk him to sleep. I'm not a good impromptu thinker. As I thought of what boring things I could talk to him about I was inspired by my kids. What do I tell them that bore them to death? I started telling Isaac about growing up on the farm. Yep, including hoeing sugar beets and moving sprinkler pipes. Of course it worked. He didn't last very long. Well I started talking about that at bedtime while we were in Utah. Then I started talking to him about Jami. He met Jami once when he was a year old. For some reason I'm guessing that he probably doesn't remember her. We talked about Jami for 2 nights and then I was not there at bedtime the next night. I got in trouble. Isaac requested the Jami frog story. Molly told him that grandma or his dad would have to tell him Jami stories. I had to think for a minute what Jami frog story he wanted to hear. Then I remembered that I told him that Jami had lizards. I think he got confused between lizards and frogs.
