Jami update

Just wanted to let everyone know that Jami is off the ventilator and when she leaves the hospital, she will be able to go straight home instead of going to transition care.

Christmas with the Simmons

First and foremost I want to update everyone on the family hospital report. (Sorry I have been so negligent lately). Our family hospital count has dropped by 2 people in the last week. Debbie went home from the hospital last weekend (I believe it was Saturday). They found that Caden had an infection and was on IV antibiotics besides needing help with his breathing. They also had him on a feeding tube because it took so much effort for him to breath that he just didn't have enough strenght to eat much. Cam and Debbie were expecting to bring him home from the hospital today but yesterday (Christmas) they receive the best Christmas present ever. They were told that Caden could go home for Christmas! I'm sure his big brothers were so excited to finally have their baby brother home.
From what I hear, Jami is progressing slowly but surely. She is still on the ventilator but dealing pretty well with it.
Mom is slowly healing. It is going to take quite some time. I'm hearing probably 2 months in the care center. She can't leave there before she can get around on her own and she can't put weight on her leg for 2 months. We'll see how everything works out. She has had some health issues this week. Her heart gave her a scare a couple of days ago for a couple of hours, but they gave her some nitroglycerin and things improved and it's been fine since then. She's had some problems controlling her blood sugar and her blood thickness. They are watching them. I will try to keep you posted of any monumental events.

And now on to some fun stuff. Here are some pictures of Christmas at the Simmons home.
It didn't take Issac very long to figure out this Christmas thing and what to do with all those wrapped presents.

Molly was reading the boys a new book. Notice Isaac's Elmo slippers and Mark's new blankie that g-ma made him.

Christmas is really, really hard work. It can really tucker a guy out. It's a good thing that g-pa has a soft tummy for me to rest on for just a minute. Oh and that's my new blanket that g-ma made me. It works just fine.

After a little recharging session we were good to go again. We got snow most of the day and a new snow toy so we went and tried it out. For the unknowing, this is a millenium falcon. It is an awesome sled that Aunt Sissy help Grandma find.
We had a very fun Christmas and we hope everyone else did too.

More pictures

I hoped to have a new picture on here every day while I have company, but I got busy playing and was surprised that it has been a whole week since my last pictures.

Last night Molly was feeding Mark and Isaac decided that he needed to help. He did a really good job.
This is Isaac all bundled up so he could go sledding. He calls the sled his boat and he loves to have dad run and pull him around the yard.

This picture is for Rachel. Grandma had a little project to finish today. Yes, I know it is Christmas Eve. I forgot about it. I am happy to report that I completed it. It's a good thing that I had a helper.

As you can see we are having lots of fun. There are tons of presents under our tree and I had better get to bed because people will be thinking that we need to be getting up in just a few short hours.
Hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas.

A visit with Santa

We took the boys to see Santa today. They were all smiles before we left. Aren't they so cute.

Santa was in a small auditorium at our museum and we were the only ones there. When we walked in Lance asked Isaac who it was and Isaac said "ho ho ho". Santa heard and he said ho ho ho too. Isaac was having a great time. Then we walked down closer to Santa. That was ok. But then we got very close and mom even wanted him to sit with Santa! Isaac was not happy about that. I thought Mark would cry because he doesn't like anyone except for mom but Mark was just as happy as could be. We got Isaac to stand in front of Santa, screaming the whole time, while they took a picture. (We couldn't take a picture with our camera so you won't get to see the pictures.) Mark did so good and was so cute that we had to have a picture taken of just him with Santa also.
I forgot to share the rest of my birthday present (well I found it a day late.) Monday morning I was checking out Mark. He had had a terrible night and he is teething. I felt a brand new sharp tooth starting to poke out. A few doses of Tylenol has done wonders on his attitude. But his is still majorly a momma's boy but he coos and smiles and tell me all kinds of stories when he is with mom.
Yep we are enjoying our company.
Here's a quick hospital update (my version).
Mom was moved to the rehab center yesterday. She is sore but seems to be doing ok.
Jami has been bugging the doctors to take her off the respirator. They tell her that she is not quite ready yet, but isn't it great that she is feeling better.
Debbie and Cam's baby is doing better this afternoon. He is still on all the machines but his levels have improved and they expect to get him off everything soon. He will have to stay in the hospital for a few more days. But Debbie gets to go home tomorrow. I'm not sure who will be more excited for her to go home, Becky or 3 big brothers.
Sorry I was so winded but I had lots to share. Watch for more pictures. They are too fun to not share.

Caden Richard arrived

Debbie had her baby this afternoon about 2:30. He weighted something like 9 lbs 11 oz. When the nurses took him back to get cleaned up and weighed, he peed all over everything including the wall.
They said he probably would have weighed 10 lbs if they had weighed him before he relieved himself.
His lungs were not working properly (as frequently happens). They put him in NICU. If he is there for less than 6 hrs no further tests will be done. If not they will start testing to see what is going on. Guess I'll add 2 more family members to my hospital report.
Debbie and the big brothers are doing good. I think that Becky is holding up pretty good too. She and Cam's mom are trying to take care of the home front.

Best birthday present ever

I talked with Lance a couple of weeks ago. He finished school last Friday and decided that they would come to Elko, Monday the 15th and we would celebrate my birthday then. We ALL agreed that that was a great plan. I specifically told them NOT to even think about coming over Sunday after church. It is too hard for the little boys to sit in church and then have to go for a long car ride in the same day.
Sooooooooooooooo Mike and I were sitting enjoying a quiet Sunday evevning when we heard a LOUD knock on our door. It sounded like someone was door bell ditching us. Mike went to the door and saw a little boy standing there all by himself in the dark and cold. Then he saw another abandoned baby boy sitting in a car seat. We brought them in and warmed them up and took a picture of them.
Since mom and dad showed up also, I think we will keep them for a couple of weeks.

And Debbie is supposed to have her baby today.

More hospital news

This was supposed to post last night until my computer decided to have a nasty attitude.

I'm supposed to let you know where I am when I do a new blog. I am home and will be home until further notice.

Tomorrow I hope to show you what I got for my birthday (it is on Molly's camera). It was pretty exciting.

Lance, Molly, Isaac, and Mark are here. Molly and Mark and I went grocery shopping. When we got home Isaac was very excited to see his little brother. Isaac got Mark a toy to play with and talked with him. I don't think that he cared that mom and grandma had been gone too. That's ok.

I'm not the best one to give the hospital updates but this is what I think I know about how mom is doing. I talked to Dad tonight so I'll see if I can get it right. It was the drs that were trying to kick mom out of the hospital. Dad did an appeal with medicaid for them to insist that there was a need and the drs had to keep her longer, but before it went through Monday and again Tuesday, the dr had changed his mind. Monday Mom's heart was skipping beats (she has a history of that) so he wanted to watch her longer. Then today they decided they'd best give her a couple of units of blood and wanted to watch her over night following that.

Dad checked out the rehab center they are looking at putting her in. He picked out a room for her. It is located directly north of the Logan hospital (I looked at it out of her hospital window). Dad thinks it will be a good place for her to rehab.

Jami is very sick but they are optimistic that with time and lots of prayers she will get over this episode. Julie is doing a good job of keeping us updated with her blog.

Hospital report

Here are two pictures I took of mom last Friday morning. I think she looks fantastic for less than 24 hours post op. (Maybe I should have taken a couple of pictures of her getting from the bed to the chair.) That was an ordeal for her, but she did it!
The word I am getting today is that the insurance company thinks that she needs to be released from the hospital and put in a nursing home for the rest of her recovery. The drs are appealling to keep her in the hospital longer. We'll see how that ends up.

Also I would encourage you to keep up on Julie's blog. Jami has not been feeling so well the last couple of weeks and is in the Huntsman Hospital tonight. No ambulance or life flight this time, just a regular ride in the car. I'm sure they will want to take lots of her blood and do some tests. I will be surprised if they do not give her some blood.

2 fer 1

I almost forgot something very, very important. Check out Lance and Molly's blog. It is sooooooo cute. In case you don't know it is linked to my blog at beienvenidos.

Slacker

Yes, I realize I have really been a slacker. My new modum was not the miracle cure that we had hoped for, but one more call to tech support and we made some adjustments and I can usually get on line wireless and always can get on plugged in.
Oh and the furnace repairman can. He cleaned it and said to cross our fingers. So far so good. The real test was if it would stay lit while we were in Utah and Idaho for almost a week. I am very happy to report that when we got home, the furnace was running. I was so happy.
This week was very eventful. I had a couple of dr app'ts. Just the usual stuff. Everything is fine. Then we visited with Steph and went to my sister-in-law's funeral, Gail. She has been having a rough time with thyroid cancer for the past couple of years.
But the day before Gail's funeral, my mom fell and broke her femur. They did surgery on her Thur afternoon and now she is on her long road to recovery. I will try to post a picture tomorrow.
And we got to see Jami. She is doing so much better.
I am really going to enjoy my bed tonight.

Internet update

Do you even want to hear this? So on the 3rd visit from my friend Jeremy with the phone company, he decides that they have to put a new line to my house and says they will have to discuss burrowing under the street. Then he decides to try one more thing. He hooked up a new modem and my internet worked better than it ever had. Well that was yesterday and today it was back to on and off again. But it is being happy right now. I give up. We are going to Panaca for a few days so I don't even have to think about it.
In the mean time, just so I can still have things not working right, my furnace needs some work done on it. I called 2 weeks ago and they said it would be 2 weeks and that they would call before they came. Well I called yesterday to see how close I was to the top of the list since we will be gone for a couple of days. She said that it will still be 2 weeks before he can get over here. He has a long list ahead of me. Hummmm. There are not many furnace repairmen in Elko. Maybe my furnace will get looked at next summer.
And I am reading about vampires and werewolves. Did you know that they don't like each other at all. What an education I am getting.

I have internet.......maybe

Do you think you really want to hear the latest of my internet saga? Well last Thursday I got my internet set up at home. I got to sit on my couch and play on my computer! Everything was good until Fri afternoon. I usually couldn't get online, but if I did get on, I kept getting kicked off. So Mon AM I called tech support. My new friend Jeremy from the phone company came yesterday to rescue this poor damsel in distress. After much deliberation he determined that the problem was outside my house. That was good news. Then he went outside and climbed up the phone pole just so I could have internet. OK. He got to the phone box in a bucket. Anyway he assured me that everthing is all fixed. I did have issues this morning getting online. I am a bit leery. I just enjoy internet when I have it and hold my breath everytime before I go on.
Stay tuned, I am working at psyching myself up to post pictures.

Molly is Awesome

We visited Lance and Molly last week. Well actually we delivered Isaac to them. I asked Molly to change my photo but she said it was too hard and she couldn't do it. I knew if Molly couldn't do it then it would be difficult for me but with time I knew I would get it changed. Well then I just checked my blog and presto-chango, it is fixed. Thanks Molly.
I am home, well in Elko. I am searching for high speed internet servers in Elko. It is quite depressing. The server I was waiting to go with is in no hurry to get their new tower up and the other one or 2 options are more than I wanted to pay. Guess I'll do some calling around and see what I come up with.
And besides that it is snowing in Elko. I guess winter in on its way.
I put a counter on my blog just last week and it is already up to 47. I'm shocked to think that anyone is actually reading this. I think Molly went in a bunch of times making changes.

Quick Update

Well I still don't have internet at home and I think I will be staying home for a week or two so I can either construct a tower or find someone who already has a tower and will let me share it.
Things have been very crazy here. As most of you know, Mike's Dad has been fighting cancer for 2 1/2 years. He passed away on Oct 20. Mike's work schedule worked out that he could take almost 2 weeks off work. We spent 1 week in Panaca and then took Isaac home with us for a couple of days and now we are in Reno after safely delivering him to his mom and dad and brother. Mike will go back to work Sunday on day shift. He had been on night shift for a couple of weeks. It is very difficult to get anything done when I have to be very quiet until 4 PM. I kinda look forward to getting my house cleaned.
When I get home I will give you an update on my canning totals for this year.
I know I need to get some pictures put on here. When you see new pictures on here, you can almost bet that I have internet at home.
As I checked this posting I quickly remembered that I certainly need to change my picture on my blog. You can be assured that that will be one of my first blog projects. So enjoy it while ya got it.

As long as I'm at it....1 more thing

When we got home from Panaca late last night I had 7 phone messages from 3 different people. Guess a couple of people missed us. Anyway, 3 of those calls were from my drs office. It was very important that I call them back. So I call and the nurse tells me that I need to make an appointment right away to see the doc about my lab results that were done 2 weeks ago and nobody cared enough to notify me until I finally called them. I said ok and asked her to give me the lab results. She says, "I can't do that." I have gone through this before and it frustrates me. If I called and said that I was nurse Geraldine, she would spill out all the numbers but when patient..... OK THE patient (as in noun, not adjective), Marilyn calls, nobody knows anything. That's ok because I can call nurse Geraldine and Dr. Whoever and get the results.
And Molly, I did not yell at her. I was kind and thoughtful and considerate of others.

It's the REAL me

Dang, stupid computers! I had this entry all written and I was very please with it and then it disappeared and now I have to try to remember what I said 5 minutes ago. That's not gonna happen.

Anyway I just want to make it clear that I do check my blog from time to time and that I do not necessarily endorse everything that may mysteriously appear on my blog.

I am in pursuit of a career building an internet tower. I must admit that I'm not sure what that might involve, but I do have a hammer and Mike has given me a few tools and my own tool box! I feel very special. Watch out Bob the Builder. It has taken 28 years for me to get to this point, even though he took over my set of wrenches shortly after we got married.
Oh and I have access to a ladder so I think I am ready to begin construction. Let's see......I will have to load everything in my car because Mike will not allow me to use his truck for a venture like this.

I want to remind everyone to check out Julie and Jami's blog. Jami is going through a rough spell and is in the hospital, but she is much better off during this down time than she was not so long ago on a good day. She is expecting to go home tomorrow. The only problem is that Jami is back to her crazy self and I'm sure she is entertaining the drs and nurses and they may not want her to go.
Sharon is ecstatic with Jami's progress. That Jami really is a toughie.

Mike and I spent a couple of days in Panaca this week. We got a little load of wood for them. Now Mike can split it on our next visit. Pal is getting weaker and weaker. It is tough to watch, but the Lord blesses them daily. And they have great neighbors who help them out.

Well I'd better get back to building my tower.

New and Improved!?!

Hi everybody. Marilyn must still be waiting for a tower to be built, so I'm (Rachel) helping her out. First, check out the new and improved picture of Marilyn. Second, there's a new background. I thought Mollie would have taken care of it before now, but since she didn't, I will. Unfortunately, lime green isn't very flattering for Isaac's pictures.

I took some very, ummmm, well, pictures of Marilyn during her last visit. Would you like to see??

Are you still wanting to see more? I thought so. Please understand that she had been up very late and spent lots of time driving. I didn't realize how much those two things affected her. It became more apparent during the rest of the week, this was just the beginning.....

Marilyn's hair is courtesy of my mom. She didn't know which way was front or back, so she kept turning it. Mom didn't know you could get so many different looks from one wig. Steph and I couldn't really recommend them. Ready for one more?? Your wish is my command...

This is the same picture as is in her profile, but it's easier to see when it's this size.

For the record, I was up later than Marilyn and was more silly than she was by the end of the week. She could post all sorts of stories about me, but she doesn't have internet at home. Maybe next week she'll help them build the tower...... (And then I'll be in serious trouble!)

No More Canning (at least for today)

After almost 2 weeks I think I have my canning done. Well that was until Steph begged me to try to make some zucchini dill pickles and Molly said that they are out of canned beans and since I am such a softy and such a sweet, kind, loving mom you know that I will do it for them. And my consolation is that one day I will run out of empty bottles and then I CAN'T can anything else.

But I don't have boxes and boxes of tomatoes, peaches and pears staring at me.
I canned 2 bushel peaches, and 5 bushels tomatoes with lots of help from Rachel, Debbie and Becky. And then I brought home 2 bushels of pears to do.

After the last 2 weeks I have determined that I am not SuperWoman. The most disappointing thing is that I will not be able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. Oh well!

I'm still waiting to get internet at my home. What a bummer. I know you are all waiting to see new pictures of my 2 little boys. I will work on that ......... sometime.

Tuesday, September 2, 2008

Hi. It's the real me. Just checking in. We're still waiting for internet at home. Oh Well.
I'm always surprised at what I will find when I check my blog. Life is fun.

Polka Dots

Polka dots are always fun, so I added a few to the blog. The sample had prominent stripes in the center, but they are harder to see now. But the polka dots are still there, so I will be happy. Does the title need to change now?? Molly can fix it when she changes things.

new e-mail

I think that anyone reading this already knows my new e-mail but here it is if you don't.

Someone said to write it like this to prevent spams.

grandmamarilynsimmons at gmail dot com

Rachel and Molly have both threatened to attach my blog, so I don't know what we are in for. I threatened to change my password, but was told they could beat me to it. So we will just see what happens. Hopefully I will get internet SOOON!
Meanwhile, I hope everyone is enjoying the olympics and the severe sleep deprevation we are all going through. Last night I discovered that I have olympic coverage through the entire night! Good thing the olympics only go for 2 weeks.

Pictures!!

Here are a few of Marilyn's favorite pictures, I'm just beating her to it. Unfortunately, I only copied the pictures on her flashdrive, so I'm missing all the most recent ones. You will need to send lots requests for those to be posted. (Sorry, obviously I wasn't thinking when I didn't download the camera pictures to my hard drive.)

Grandma Marilyn and Mark enjoying a minute alone together. Grandma is so smart, she kept the baby blankets she used for Lance so that Mark would have the right sized blankets at her house.

Next is one of my favorites of Isaac from the current collection. There is a story and a slew of pictures that go along with this one. Sadly, this preview will have to be sufficient until Grandma can tell the entire story and post another 3 or 4 pictures... I'll just say that it sounded like a lot of fun!
Okay, since one will never be enough, here's another:

Equal time for everyone... Here's Isaac showing Grandpa all the cool rocks he finds while Grandpa fixes the car. The keen observer will notice the number of similar-looking cool rocks all around. Initially I thought Isaac was helping Grandpa lose the bolts, but he's really helping entertain Grandpa with his new rock collection. I bet Mom can't wait until Isaac is smart enough to fill his pockets and socks with rocks to take home. Oh, but look, there's a big open trunk, that will hold more than pockets ;)

Have to end the post with a picture of Mark. Don't know if this is one on Molly's blog, you'll have to go there to check for yourself.

Disclaimer

My computer died and I am in between internet servers. I know you have really missed my updates.
Rachel is doing something to my blog. So I just wanted to warn everyone to beware and view with caution.
I have lots of new pictures to share. Can't wait to get back on.

Sweet big brother

I have to share this tender moment that Isaac and Mark shared this morning, as told to me by Molly.
I think you all know that Lance has already indoctrinated Isaac with all kinds of Star Wars stuff. Isaac knows that when the Star Wars music comes on, the movie will follow. It really messes him up when Lance plays a Star Wars CD and there is no movie on the TV.
Anyway back to my story. Mark was sleeping in his little jumper chair in their frontroom. Isaac took his little stuffed Chewbacca doll to Mark and set it on his chest. He then tried to put Mark's arm around Chewbacca, so he could hold it. And then Isaac put his water cup next to Mark also. (These 2 things are essentials for Isaac when he sleeps and he was sure that his little brother needed to sleep with them also).

Isaac is frightened by Mark. All of Isaac's other toys just sit quietly, but this Mark toy moves. Isaac will get brave and touch Mark and be close to him and then when Mark stretches or moves, Isaacs runs away. We all know that that will not last for very long.

Our New Arrival

I finally got my computer to cooperate and I was able to download a picture of our new arrival. I know all of you have been anxiously awaiting this moment.
Please scroll down.

Don't YELL at me. It was a joke. This is our new car. The only pictures of Mark that I have available to me are the ones on Lance's blog. I may have to drive my new arrival to Reno so I can see and take pictures of Lance and Molly's new arrival.

Mark's stats

OK I have been given Mark's measurements. Our petite little guy weighed in at 9 lb 1 1/2 oz. He is 20 1/2 in long and was born at 9:41. And his name is Mark Hinckley Simmons.
Molly is doing very well. She even answered the phone an hour after the birth last night. She said that Lance was busy holding the baby.

Not much more for this grandma to report. We are just so happy that he is here and that everyone is doing so well. They plan to go home tomorrow.

My computer is having issues. Maybe 2 grandsons is too much of a load for my old computer. I'm still not able to upload Lance's pictures so I will just direct you to the right of the screen on my blog. Click on Isaac and Lance's blog will magically appear with baby pictures.

Tuesday, July 15, 2008

YIPPPEEE!!!! He's here

Well Mark FINALLY decided to make his grand appearance. He was born just before 10:00 PM July 15. They do not have a weight on him yet. And I am not waiting up any longer to find out details.
I called about an hour after Mark was born and Molly answered the phone, so I think she is doing fine. And she had had something to eat so she was happy. She said that Lance was busy holding Mark.
I tried to upload the picture that Lance posted but I'm experiencing technical difficulties go to Isaac's blog listed here to see pictures.
Look for more details later.

Still Waiting

Well I made a trip to Reno. Stayed there for 10 days and decided that I had better come home so Molly could have her baby. It is Molly's parents turn to be on the baby watch.

The baby appears to be healthy, just not ready for the mean, cruel world yet. Don't know that I blame him for that. They are going to induce Molly tomorrow. Soooooooooooo................hopefully tomorrow I should have good news for everyone from Reno.

I do have fantastic news from SLC. Jami was taken off her ventilator today. They didn't plan to cap it off until Thur but some things came up today and they decided to just let her go without it. Last I heard she was doing very well. And if things keep progressing well, she will be home before too long.

Still Waiting

Just a quick note to all my loyal fans. That makes about 2 of you. We are STILL on baby watch here. We are all anxious to get the show on the road but Molly is the MOST ready. Now we just have to convince Mark that he wants to appear.

I hope that next time I write I will have new baby pictures.

More 4-wheeilng

I've still been very busy. But here are a couple of pictures.

My last blog was the way Isaac wants you to think he was on the 4-wheeler, but these pictures show what grandpa said Isaac did on the 4-wheeler.

It's kinda hard to tell on this picture but Isaac is close to tears. He always started crying when he started out on the 4-wheeler. He settled down after it started up and they got going.

This is how Isaac spent most of his 4-wheeler rides. He is sound asleep. He didn't nap much while they were camping, but the 4-wheeler put him to sleep every time.
It made it very difficult for Mike to drive the 4-wheeler with just one hand.

I'm going to be in away from the computer for a few days but when I get back I will have some more fun pictures.

Vroom Vroom

I've been very busy today and forgot all about my blog. I decided to just update it tomorrow, but then I remembered that I didn't do anything yesterday either. (I'm doing this late enough that it may count for today and tomorrow's.) Since I am getting so proficient at this blogging stuff, this picture didn't require any swear words at all. I just had to wait a while for my computer to do its thing.

This obviously is Mike and Isaac on the 4-wheeler up at Jack Creek.

My S'more

You get a bonus today. There is no way that I could choose just one of these pictures. And I bet you couldn't choose just one either.
I hope you enjoy.

I am recording this as Isaac told it to me.

Last week my da-da and gaw-gaw took me camping. We left ma-ma and my other gaw-gaw home. It was just the boys camping. We did lots of fun things and you will see more things later, but today we are talking about the s'more.
Da-da fixed me this s'more and gave it to me. I had never had a s'more before but I know that I will want some more. I do have to thank ma-ma because she told gaw-gaw that I HAD to have s'mores on my first camping trip ever.

So here I am in MY chair eating my s'more.

It tasted so good

I've never had marshmallows like this before.

Marshmallows are kinda sticky and gooey. I think that is what makes them taste so yummy. And chocolate is always good.
Can you tell how much I liked the s'more? I was very careful not to get any on me because I
wanted to eat every single bit of it.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm yummy for my tummy and all the rest of me too.

The Chair

Isaac got his own camping chair. He loves it. He was so excited that he had to try it out for size before they went out camping and it fits!
But it doesn't have a cup holder or a umbrella. Guess he will have to suffer through that inconvenience.

One Cool Dude

WOW! I did it again. My computer had some issues so it took a few tries. I promise it was my computer's fault, not mine.
I decided instead of sending a bunch of pictures at a time to try to send one every day or so. At least while I have new photos to share.
I put this one on the background of my desktop today. We go out of our way to look at it on the computer. It gives us a smile.
Sorry Steph, I know I already sent this one to you. I promise a new picture tomorrow. (Unless we have technical difficulties.)
Isn't he just cute!!!!

The Garden

I now know why I was inspired to NOT post pictures on here. What a pain this process has been. The whole time I was 1 step away from it working. That is the story of my life with computers. And these pictures aren't even worth all the hassle they caused, but hopefully I will remember how to do this next time for the GOOD pictures. And maybe next time it won't take hours and hours and several calls to Lance and Molly for help. I'm going to look into buying one of those programs that schools have so they can see my monitor.

Anyway, back to my pictures. This is my little boys' pumpkin. I think they can start carving on it in what a week or so?????

And this is their hubbard squash with some weeds next to it. Guess I will have to pull them before the next update.

And now that I may know what I am doing some Isaac pictures will be my next venture when I have 6 or 8 hours to work on it.

The Wake

I know I am behind on my blog, but I had a special little visitor and his parents for a few days so I am a little behind my already behind schedule.

First I would tell everyone to check out Isaac's link on my blog. They have posted some new info.

I'm still feeling good and no UTI symptoms! I know you are all excited to hear about that.

I got my garden all planted. And then just over a week later, replanted the parts that froze in June. And now the poor little guys are getting sun burned. This weather just doesn't know what to do. I'm sure pictures of my garden will show up here at some time.

Let me leave you with something to make you laugh. A few weeks ago we spent the weekend with Mike's sisters and parents. It was a fun visit. Of course we planned this out weeks in advance. We also planned for Pal and Jessie to have a priesthood blessing while we were all there. Well, Mike forgot to take the consecrated oil so I went to Jessie's neighbors to borrow some. As soon as I asked for the consecrated oil, they turned white and asked if Pal was pretty sick. They thought he was knocking on death's door. They were so panicked. I reassured them that he was ok. They and the rest of the neighborhood were worried when they saw 3 extra cars in the driveway. We heard from the rest of the neighbors when we went to church on Sunday. Yep, the gossip mill is still alive and well in Panaca.
I must say that it is very nice to know that so many people are very concerned for Pal and Jessie. Times are tough for them but they are tough and getting through it pretty well.

I will try to put some pictures on in the next little while. So stay tuned.

Arctic Circle

I've been well over a week now with no UTI symptoms. All I have to say is it has been a really long time coming. And I hope it stays this way.
I think I need to go to Arctic Circle to celebrate. Those of you who don't have TV will have to ask someone about the AC commercials.

Travel log

Molly said that all our trips would keep me busy blogging. Here's our latest adventure. We went to Panaca last weekend. We spent Saturday visiting with Mike's parents and his sisters and had some good Dutch Oven cooking. We had a good visit.

I finally planted part of my garden yesterday. It is a Lance garden. I planted potatoes and corn. I think he would allow pumpkins also. Then it started raining so I had to quit. The pumpkins are the next thing to be planted and I sure would like to get my tomatoes going. We are really soggy today so it will be a few days before I can get out there again. It has not been a gardeners spring here. It has either been too cold or too rainy or too hot. And of course my environment has to be just perfect for me to work.

I am on quite a roll this week. Something funny happened that I thought I would share. I was gathering paperwork for our cub scout day camp. I went to one home and the little sister answered the door and yelled to her brother, "It's your old cub scout leader". I chided her for calling me old. She said, "You're not really old". I said, "Oh yes I am". So then she asks, "Then why aren't you dead?" I have a few days when I wonder the same thing.
I think we are supposed to be breaking into summer again. Guess when we get back from Panaca, I will have to plant the garden.

Isaac's 1st kiss

When Molly and I first talked about me starting a blog I reminded her that I am OLD and my life is very boring. Whatever would I write about! She told me to write about Isaac. I think they do a good job of that on their blog but there is one incident that they have neglected to blog so it must be my duty to do it.

I was talking with Lance Sunday and he told me that they were sitting in Sacrament Meeting and looked over at Isaac. He and a little girl just younger than him were locking lips! Yep, my grandson kissing a girl in church. I guess I'm glad that it was a girl sharing the bench with them and not a boy. Can you even imagine how sloppy and slobbery that kiss would have been?

In Isaac's defense, Lance tells me that the girl started it. She had fishies and how could a guy pass up a chance to have fishies.

May 18, 2008

I would like to acknowledge my lovely daughter-in-law for setting up my blog page for me. Isn't she just so cute!
Kids these days just don't have any respect......why I remember when I was just a young dino and back in those days we certainly had respect for our elders.

We may discusss that more later. And I need someone to tell me why she would call me a Dino Beet Farmer. I just don't get it.

Here is my own first entry.

Mike and I visited Lance, Molly and Isaac last week. It was Mike's b-day present. Grandpa and Isaac enjoyed playing WII together. Isaac was able to teach Mike quite a few new moves.

Grandma gave Isaac his first lesson on being grandma's TPN assistant. He learned how to flush g-ma's lines. G-ma told him to push and he did (ush, ush). He also got a lesson on pushing the buttons on g-ma's pumps and they make noises. Grandma has lots of fun toys.
