40 days and 40 nights

We have been in the camper for 40 days and 40 nights. It really isn't that bad as long as it isn't raining so our camper is leaking. And we haven't had any electrical problems since we plugged into our house. We were right on the edge of overloading our neighbor's circuit. I'm really glad that I didn't have to have all kinds of animals in my little camper for 40 days.

Here is my little pile of baling twine. It wasn't even enough for my dad to reuse so I just threw it away. I know.....................what a waste of baling twine.

I had to show you an example of how the tied they cupboard doors shut.

I really do have carpet! I was talking with Jack the carpet layer today. He told me that this is very good carpet and that the pad is the best you can get. He also told me how great this company is to work with. He says they believe in doing whatever it takes to make the customer happy. I guess I could put that to the test, but I really am please with all the phases we have gone through. Everyone has been so good to us.
Jasper, the trim and fix anything that still needs to be done guy, came today. He will be mostly completed tomorrow but they shorted him on some trim and a few other things that he needs. So he will have to come back Monday to finish just a bit. He put up some light fixtures today and put in light bulbs. It was nice to see lights on in my house tonight. And he pulled the blinds down. It really is starting to look like home.
Oh and you will be relieved to know that I talked with Genja the saleslady. She told me that I can go in the house. What a relief that I am not being a bad girl. You all know that I would not want to be a bad girl.
We are going to Reno for the weekend to visit Isaac and Mark.......I mean Lance and his family. Genja said that I can take a key and lock the house. It has been left open all this time. This is crazy. The back door and front door each use different keys. So I now have to pack 2 house keys or just always go in the back door. I guess that won't be much of a deal when we have the garage in a few weeks. Wait a minute! I just got thinking. We have to have a steel door for entry between the house and the garage so the back door we have now will go on the outside of the garage. That means I will have yet another door with another key. OH no. This is getting too complicated for me.

Finally, a Magic piece of paper

This itty bitty piece of paper says that I can move into my house. However, the drywall guy and carpet and trim people say that it would be best to wait until they are done. I agree. If they can get them all scheduled quickly, we will be in there next week.

Now I am scheduling gas, water, phone and TV to get hooked up and turned on. By George we might just end up moving in before too long. Oh. That sounds like work. But it will be fun.

Day 38

I was quite surprised when I checked out Julie's blog this morning. For a good time check out Petersen in my list. Those guys are all so silly. I'm so glad that they can have a good laugh even with all they are going through. I hear that Julie's next post will have pictures of Jami's hospital bed rattling down the freeway and the highway patrol following with their lights on. Julie said that it was an escort. I think if the cops could have caught up with her, they sure would have escorted her somewhere.

Dave the drywall guy showed up this morning looking for work. I found some for him. The funny thing is that I had talked to Genja the saleslady just an hour or 2 before that and she said he would be here Thur. Guess that shows what she knows. So if the carpet guy were to show up Thur or Fri............Things are going pretty good. Guess I'd better get rested up so I am ready to move.

This is how last Saturday morning started for Mike. It was free admittance to the dump. That isn't very thrilling to most of you but to us it was pretty exciting. (The proof will follow). We had quite a rain storm Friday night. Our drive was muddy and Mike found out just how soft the edges were.
After Mike let things dry out for a few hours, this was the result. He drove right out.

We had a bunch of old concrete that needed hauled off. It would have cost more than $40 if we'd had to pay for it. And we had half a pine tree to get rid of.

Here we are at the dump.

They had boys from the local youth center help unload all day. I'm sure they ate a very big dinner and then slept very good. We really appreciated not having to unload it ourselves.

What I did today

Today's update is that the plans for the garage are being approved and it will be started in the next 3 weeks or so, I'm guessing. They are supposed to do the final on the house Wed and get the gas connected. We are waiting for the gas so the furnace will be running so they can finish the dry walls. Hopefully dry wall work will be done Thur and Fri. Then I'm hoping the finish and clean up crew can come next week and get everything done. After we pass the final inspection Wed I plan to get the water, phone and TV hooked up. Maybe I could have real internet and even a landline again.

I am enjoying a relaxing dinner in my new home.

I have a dishwasher! I hope it doesn't damage my fine china.

Relaxing in my living room.

I think this mattress needs some help. It is as hard as sleeping on the floor.

MY utility room. It would be a good replacement for my old kitchen.

A quick shower after all that work.

The carpet padding.

Fighting with my internet (revised)

I was able to upload these 3 pictures tonight.(I think they are here). I will try to comment on them and show the rest of the pictures tomorrow. Yes, I will be glad when I have real internet in a real house. And I don't know why I have internet at all. My phone hasn't worked for a week now.

I am at the church and I forgot how nice it was to not have to wait at least 5 minutes for every picture and every step that I made and that was after waiting to even get to my site.

This is my carpeting. Do you like it?

I can't believe Mike took a picture of me in the tub. No privacy in this house.

Mike wanted to make sure you know that we have TP in our new house. I think the pink water is so that they will know if I use the toilet without their permission.

We need to move again

These are just a few additions to last night's post.

We need to move again. This camp site has a street light in the middle of it. Oh well. We'll stay here for a while.

I got another JC Penny catalog sale flier yesterday. Mike saw it and said I could just throw it away. But then I explained to him that this one was entirely clothes on sale. I do have a huge closet that I am nowhere near to filling.

If my internet is nice to me this afternoon, I will have new pictures on here later.

We moved today

It has taken me about 3 hrs to get this post to go through. I hope you all appreciate it. I thought I was going to bed early tonight. Oh well, I will sacrifice for my fan club.

You never want to stay in the same camping spot for too long so everytime Mike takes the camper out, he parks it someplace different. He usually has just backed it up a few feet farther back. We were always getting squeezed out of room in the back. Since we could not go farther back any more without moving the dog house, he moved it to the front. (It also was much easier than the very tight squeeze that it was to get in the back. It was even tighter than last week.) So now we are living on the street.

Is anybody interested in seeing what is behind this door. Yah. Me too. But you know that we can't go in there.

Oh no. The door popped open. And look there is a rug in the entry way. (JC Penny just happened to have their rugs and towels at least half off today.) I think my purchases today made up for the many times I have used their restroom in the last couple of weeks without buying anything. I guess this is what laminate looks like. I really like it.

Here is the new rug for the kitchen.

The master bath got new rugs and towels.

So did the other bathroom. I have a shower curtain for it too. I saved over $200 on all my purchases. And some of you will be more interested than others to know that they tied the doors shut with baling twine. I thought that was pretty funny.

I have more pictures ready to post. We'll see how the internet treats me tomorrow.

More internet issues

I have not been slacking. I either been busy taking more pictures or then I couldn't get on the internet. I had some pictures almost ready to post and I lost them. I will try one more time tonight. If they don't go through I will have to wait until tomorrow.

Getting closer

Look at the nifty sign that magically showed up in our front yard. Aren't you jealous.

The hole in front is for my water meter.

This shows how much work they got done yesterday (Wed). They rolled the 2nd half over and got it almost all sealed together.

This is Dave and his set-up crew. Don't leave out the guy in the bottom of the picture. They did not finish off the other end because we are building a garage on there. There was no sense in them putting the siding on so the garage crew could pull it off. This way the garage crew has some siding to use also. We should have the final inspection next week. Then we will get the certificate of occupancy HOWEVER that does NOT mean that we will be moving in yet. That just means the house passed its inspections. They still need to do some drywall work, install carpets and do the trim. It won't be long.

These 2 pictures are mostly for Lance and Molly. The flowers they transplanted are still alive.

And I should note that there are steps to the front door and I am a frequent visitor. I seriously thought about camping out in there for the weekend but I guess I will wait. The house does have electricity.
I guess you will have to check back for pictures of the inside of the house. They will probably show up tomorrow if I have internet.

My house came home

I went through my pictures and just couldn't find many not to post so you get a bunch today.

We have a high pitched roof. They had to lay it down to make the trip. Here they are raising the roof.
This is how they transported the house. Of course they had wheels on the ends but they had no trailer. The house beams just laid on here. I thought that was interesting.

This is how my fence looked after the 1st half arrived.

Here is the 2nd half coming up the street. The lady is holding up the wire for the house to go under. I don't believe that they backed the whole way from Boise.

Here they are rounding the corner into the yard with someone else holding up the wire.

It was still a tight fit, but no damages.

He had to make a very tight turn to get in there.

This shows how close they were to the foundation. But they didn't blow out any tires this time.

Here they are set up to roll it over.

This is as close to the front door as I could get.

Mike just coming home from work.

This is my secret trap door. (To my crawl space. And yes it is crawl space.)

Mike is doing a house inspection. But remember we did NOT enter the house because that just would have been wrong.
I still don't have internet. I am at the church. Later today I will somehow get some pictures posted. I would hate to disappoint my loyal followers.

We did get the 2nd half yesterday. This time instead of backing down the hill into our yard, which proved to be extremely difficult, they backed up the hill and into the yard. This allowed them to make a wider turn. The fence created a HUGE problem going the other way. I am extremely happy to report that this side of the house did not even touch the fence. The down-side is that my heart did not get any work out from the anxiety. But that's ok with me. Perhaps I could go for a walk for that benefit.

I got the run around with the gas company yesterday trying to make arrangements to have the gas line moved. That should happen Friday. Today I got to play with the water company. They need to inspect the meter box. Then install my meter and then they say they will turn on my water. This is just too much fun.

Here is a side note. I now have a deep appreciation for two ply TP and quilted is an added bonus. None of my public restrooms have such luxories. I didn't even realize what I was missing until one day I used the restroom at my friend's home. WOW!!! Quilted TP. Do you want to guess what kind of TP will be hanging in my bathrooms?

When Mike got home last night, we went on a little adventure. We are NOT allowed in our house yet so of course we wouldn't do anything like that. Or would we? They thought they really had us fixed because the front room was parked about 1 foot away from the fence making it impossible to enter. But we went down in the crawl space (it is shorter than we wanted it to be, so I think I know who will be designated to go under there). From there we climbed up a ladder and actually made it farther than the utility room. I still haven't seen into the other side at all but I'm guessing that that might happen this evening. This time we will take a flashlight. It was too dark to get a good look at my colors. Yes and I will take my camera.

There's No Place Like Home

The second half of the house made it safe and sound. Internet is not working so this is being posted by proxy. Hopefully some pictures will be put up tomorrow.

IT'S HERE!!!!!!!!!!

This afternoon I was told that the house would spend the night at the lot at Les Schwab Tire. I was out shopping and in no hurry. This is what I saw as I drove home.

My house was in the middle of the road.

Notice how close the tires are to my foundation.

The tires before they fell off. I told you it was a tight fit. They rubbed against the foundation.

It was an extremely tight fit.

I will take a better picture of the fence tomorrow. My mailbox took a hit.

Me with my house. The roof will be totally slanted. It has a hinge on it so it can be shorter while it is being shipped. That is good. I don't know if it would have made it under our low wires.

Mike breaking into our house. (With my encouragement.)

Home Sweet Home

My utility room. What do you think about the colors Molly? I like them.

I didn't realize that the utility room doesn't go anyplace without the other half so this is as far as we could go.
The other half will arrive tomorrow afternoon. I will have more pictures of the house getting put on the foundation.
I have to share how nervous I was watching them bring this in. They were hitting on both sides of the house. The house was against the fence and the guy is saying keep backing up. I wanted to jump out there and say, "You listen to me. You stop RIGHT NOW." I don't care about the fence. I told them to tear it down. They said they could get it without doing that.
