I worked 10 hrs today. My pay-off is that if I work 4 10's, I can have 3 days off this week.
I'm on my way to bed but wanted to share a couple of things from today.
It was windy today and I was standing outside with a binder full of stuff and a folder with 3 questionnaires filled out and the questionnaires took off in the wind. We call these PII (Personally Identifiable Information). They are to be carefully guarded. I am sworn to keep all info confident. In fact the census bureau takes lost PII extrememly serious. I raced down the road chasing the wind and the papers but I prevailed. It was actually pretty funny.
As a rule, the people that I have interviewed in this operation have been much nicer than the ones in my last operation. However, one of my co-workers may not agree with me. We have a notice of visit that we leave if no one is home. We leave our phone number and ask them to call us. Well he called her alright. He called her all kinds of names and used some very colorful language. He informed her that he was home when she left it and wanted to know why she was leaving junk on his property and warned her not to step on his property again. A sheriff may accompany the next census worker who follows up on this.
We were given an address of a house that totally didn't match up with the neighbors on each side. We were given a map with map spots to locate where the house was. So when I interviewed the man, I asked about his address. He told me that he doesn't have one other than his mailing address. He just tells his friends that his is the 2nd log cabin on that road. I don't have to understand it and it doesn't have to make sense, I just have to find the right people and ask them the questions.
